The grandeur and romance of an English Castle Wedding

At Pretty Amazing Cakes we are proud to be listed among the recommended suppliers of wedding cakes to the delightful   Thornbury Castle , wedding venue in South Gloucestershire, and as such often receive commissions from overseas couples planning to visit the UK to marry in the romantic setting of an English Castle.

Our Canadian couple chose a two tiered cake with a selection of cupcakes to be served with afternoon tea following their wedding breakfast. The design was decided during the course of our emails, and I created a Pinterest board so that the couple and I could each pin and share our ideas.

The Design

The theme of the wedding was french, vintage baroque, with lots of gold accents. The cake featured flecks of 24 carat edible gold leaf in the the icing, and sugar cameos and piped pearls to reflect the bride's love of these items. The cupcakes were iced in pastel pinks and blues and decorated with gold butterflies, stencilled chandeliers, teapots and cameos.

 The Display

The cakes were displayed in the Castle's stately Tudor Hall. The main cake sitting on a pastel pink milk glass stand (available to hire from Pretty Amazing Cakes), surrounded by the cupcakes arranged in pretty vintage bone china cups and saucers (all available to hire from Pretty Amazing Cakes)

Our scrummy NEW Drip Cakes are every bit as delicious as they look but without the sweet, fondant icing.

We find that not everyone likes sweet icing, so we bake and fill our new range of layer cakes in a variety of tasty flavours, then cover them with a coating of swiss meringue buttercream frosting, before drizzling them with a rich, dark chocolate ganache drip.  We then go to town on the decoration with lots of pretties and hand-made chocolate trimmings, and other luscious treats, such as chocolate dipped strawberries and raspberries and meringue kisses.  As well as the dark chocolate range we can also make a white or milk chocolate variety.   Check the blog for more exciting flavours coming soon.  For further information contact Anne at bake@prettyamazingcakes.co.uk.
